The Evans & Tate 2016 Broadway Chardonnay was definitely the star of the show at the 2018 Perth Royal Wine Awards, scooping a fabulous haul of five trophies, including Best Chardonnay and Best Wine of Show.
This follows hot on the heels of 95 points from James Halliday in the recently-released Wine Companion 2019, who praised the 'clever winemaking' from Senior Winemaker Matt Byrne, which has created a wine with a texture that is 'little short of amazing' tethered to a 'complex array of varietal fruit flavours.'
The full trophy tally from Perth was as follows:
- Best Wine of Show
- Best White Wine
- Best Chardonnay
- Best Western Australian Wine
- Best Western Australian White Wine
Sadly the 2016 Broadway Chardonnay has now sold out, following its recent success. However, the 2017 Broadway Chardonnay promises to be just as fabulous and will be available soon.

Peter Fogarty, Chairman of Fogarty Wine Group which owns Evans & Tate, congratulated Senior Winemaker Matt Byrne and his team on an outstanding show, which also saw gold medals for Redbrook Reserve 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2016 Chardonnay:
"One of the key reasons for our purchase of Evans & Tate was the strength of both the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon programs. Results such as this, amongst such strong, Australia-wide competition, highlight the quality and pedigree of the Evans & Tate wines. It’s also very pleasing to see even more success for our new Redbrook Reserve range of wines, which are due for release later in 2018.”
